Hello - during install of standalone converter on a Windows 7 Pro workstation I get the following error; install rolls back, does not complete. What is causing this?

I am trying to convert a Windows 2000 SP4 (SCSI attached 12GB c:\ drive, 1024MB memory) running on Microsoft Virtual Server over to VMware(Version 3.5.0 Build 123630) using VMware converter 3.0.3-89816.  The conversion process completes successfully, but when I try to start the server in VMware I receive a page fault in non paged area win32k.sys BSOD.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

I have a old system need to P2V for continence use, at least use around 10 more year. But that system has 3 serial port on each workstations. How to setup a serial port after P2V? is it possible to do?

Hi I downloaded vCenter converter and when I run the executable file i get "error reading setup initialization file"  All three versions that are available for download get the same error.  What is the best way to install this product?

I'm looking to virtualize a physical disk running Vista.  My machine is a multi-boot PC with 3 drives, each containing a different OS.

Disk 1: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Disk 2: Windows Vista 32-bit

Disk 3: Windows XP Pro 32-bit

Each one of these disks has 2 partitions, a primary for the OS and a logical drive for data.  I'm just looking to virtualize the primary OS partition to a virtual disk.

Looking at the documentation, it appears that to do a virtualization, the Source OS partition needs to be up and running. Is there any way to just point the converter to that primary partition while its not running?

Also, I don't see that Windows XP is supported.  Is it possible to use this tool to virtualize that primary partition also?

I'm having trouble with installation of VMware vCenter Converter Standalone on my Windows 7 Enterprise workstation. I tried installing different versions (6.1.1, 6.0.0, 5.5.3, 5.5.2) and every time I get the error "could not extract file ." (with no file name mentioned, as you can see in the attached file) after installation begins (I passed all the installation questions successfully).

Prviously I had v5.5.2 installed, I installed v5.5.3 succesfully without uninstalling previous version. As I wanted to install the latest version, I wanted to make it cleanly, so I uninstalled my current version (5.5.3), and now I can't install any version, even my v5.5.2 that was previsouly installed.

Did someone already had this problem and found a solution ? Or do you have any idea that could help me ?

I tried to run the installer as administrator, but it didn't change anything.

In case it could have side effects, I have these VMware products installed :

- VMware Player

- VMware vSphere Client 4.1

- VMware vSphere Client 5.1

- VMware vSphere Client 5.5

To test the installer, I installed v6.1.1 on windows 2003 and I had no problem.

I have been working on this for a while trying to figure out why any Windows system would fail being converted to an ESXi server. I tried different PC's, different ESXi servers with different versions of ESXi and they all failed. The one thing I didn't change was using an older version of the converter. I was using version 6.1.1 on all of the different PC's.

Today I uninstalled version 6 and installed version 5.5.3 of the converter and it works.

Version 6 would convert a Linux server without an issue it was just any type of Windows system. The converter would get up to 98% and then the bar would go back to 3% to 6% and fail. The logs showed a network error which I know wasn't correct because I could convert a Linux server.

I am attaching the logs from the failed v6 and the working v6. Maybe someone can see something I am missing.

I am attempting to convert a physical machine to virtual image. Currently running VMware server 2.0.1 on a Windows 2008 server, and VMware Converter standalone is installed on this machine. I enter all the correct information on the MachineType screen (within Converter), click next and the WMware vCenter COnverter Standalone Agent deployment window pops up. I clicked "Automatically uninstall" and then click YES.  It then responds with Insufficient permissions to conneect to "computername". The physical machine being converted is Windows XP Pro SP2. The username entered on the previous screen has administrator rights.  Any suggestions?

Is there any Guidelines in converting XenServer 7.0 VMs to EXS 6.0 with vCenter Converter Standalone.

I have done this in the past from Xen-Org to EXS successfully. Though the conversion itself succeeded, but I cannot start the Machine in EXS. It goes each time to repair.

When following the instructions, I accidentally ran the v1-HWVirtual.bat instead of p1-HWPhysical.bat then suddenly the connection drops. Right now I am connected through Dell Console. Is it okay to leave the server as it is after v1-HWVirtual.bat ran? Will the network connections return to normal?

I know it success the convert but appears blue screen as I turn on the machine.

Already I tried to use Converter5.5.3, convert by remote windows machine and to another virtual machine.
Im not sure how to solve this error.

I need some help figuring out the error message related to a P2V failure.

I'm attempting to convert a physical windows 2k 32bit server to a VM and I got all the way to 95% and then received an error.

I'm using the VMware vCenter Converter standalone 4.0.1  on a remote PC, the destination host is running ESX4.0.

Could this be a firewall issue on the source server? Or am I using the wrong conversion tool?

A p2v i am doing on a Windows 2008 R2 server has failed on several attempts - always around the 15% - 20% mark. Same error codes reported : 1223 & 122 - anyone know what the errors are and how to fix them

This is an attempted conversion of a troublesome Win7 Ultimate laptop. I've already dug out and resolved a HP keyboard driver issue which was causing a BSOD in a semi-successful image, but am now getting conversion failures. I've tried the recommended post-conversion processing which worked last time, but that's also failing.

Unfortunately, I replaced/upgraded the standalone converter (it was removed when I thought I didn't need it) as I've also tried a direct PC/Mac conversion.

Can't tell whether it's a laptop or converter installation related error.
